Novotel: the brand that respects the environment…
Novotel and the environment
Novotel has always been a benchmark in the hotel industry. Over the past 40 years the corporate responsibility of the brand has developed by anticipating guest expectations and introducing environmentally friendly innovations.
Keeping the environment in mind on all functional levels is part of the Novotel brand DNA - as is reflected in the framework of the Accor Group's Earth Guest program.
This focuses on three areas: establishing construction standards, ensuring that staff and employees practice sustainable development on a daily basis and involving guests as well as all levels of staff across all internal and external operations.
Our commitment to high environmental standards is reflected in our partnership with Green Globe signed in July 2007. Green Globe is the official international environmental certification programme for responsible travel and tourism.
…and commits to sustainable development in a worldwide certification program.
To this end, Novotel launched the pilot phase of its Green Globe certification program in July 2007, which involves 28 hotels in 12 countries on 5 continents. The countries are: the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Brazil, Ivory Coast, India, China Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.
At present, Novotel has four certified hotels: Novotel Lyon Part Dieu, Novotel London Tower Bridge, Novotel Bali Benoa and Novotel Sharm El-Sheikh.
Each hotel will be assessed on eight performance criteria in order to guarantee, among other things, better waste management, the reduction of all pollutants, and controlled water and energy consumption. Thus, Novotel actively joins the fight against global warming.
An audit will be carried out on each hotel in order for it to obtain Green Globe certification within 6 to 12 months; after certification, audits are conducted annually to ensure performance is maintained.
