Dubai on New Year’s Eve - Best Places to Watch the Fireworks This Year

Dubai is home to the biggest, brightest and largest. Known as the ‘City of Gold’, Dubai houses the largest mall in the world, the tallest building in the world, and its 2014 New Year’s Eve fireworks display set a new world record in the Guinness World Records. It’s no surprise that visitors from all over the globe flock to Dubai for New Year’s celebrations. With fantastic weather, plenty to see and do and lots of cultural offerings, Dubai is the perfect destination to ring in the New Year. We give you a round up our favourite spots around town to view this year’s fireworks display and enjoy the festivity with your loved ones.

Clearly the best place to be on New Year’s Eve is at the Burj Khalifa. The world’s tallest building promises the most spectacular and extravagant display on NYE. Be sure to arrive early to beat the crowd and get a comfortable spot and great view. Get to the prime spot by 6pm – many people throng the Dubai Mall Fountain deck, however Burj Park is also a great alternative option. One of the highlights of watching the NYE fireworks at Burj Khalifa is that the tower transforms into a colossal LED screen showcasing a display of lights and lasers to go along with the fireworks. Ideal whether you are celebrating with a group or friends or family, the Burj Khalifa area has plenty of restaurants and entertainment options running throughout the night.

Hitting record after record, Palm Jumeirah is built to impress. The extravagant display of lights, sounds, music and fireworks lights up the outline of the whole island. Even though most people venture into the Palm Island to get right into the middle of the action, it can get extremely crowded. We would recommend viewing the Palm Jumeirah fireworks from just outside the island, from Media City, Jumeirah Street and Beach, Dubai Marina and Al Sufouh.

A newer addition to the top fireworks in Dubai, residents of the Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Jumeirah Beach Residences are treated to a grand finale of spectacular fireworks shortly after midnight to ensure the night ends with a bang. The Beach at JBR is thriving with entertainment and celebrations from early evening, and continue till the early hours of New Year’s Day. Public transport is your best option to get to JBR in time as parking can be limited and crowds aplenty.

A much awaited tradition amongst local residents, the fireworks at Burj Al Arab are really a spectacular sight to see. Most people prefer to spend their evenings at the nearby beaches like Kite Beach, Jumeirah Beach and Umm Suqeim. Make sure to get there early to avoid traffic blockades and road closures.

If celebrating with the crowd is not your cup of tea, you can still enjoy the New Year’s Eve fireworks display in Dubai from the comfort of your home. Live steams will be available online as well as on local television channels. Bring in the New Year in Dubai with your own private showing of the Dubai fireworks with your friends and family.
