Practical packing tips for your next flight

Anxious at just the thought of packing everything into a suitcase? Don’t stress! Allow us to provide a few practical packing tips for your next flight.

Preparing in advance is often half the battle, especially when travelling with children. Everyone’s passport is obviously a must when going abroad. But did you think of bringing a copy of your travel insurance? And don’t forget your favourite book for the 12-hour flight! Also bear in mind that a heavy suitcase will soon become a burden. Pulling your hair out at the thought of all that hassle? No need to stress, Novotel has a few handy and practical tips to ease the strain of packing.
Create your own checklist
Fretting about the endless amount of items you need to take with you? Then it’s no surprise if you end up forgetting something in the first place! An easy way to tackle this inconvenience is by creating a checklist of what to bring. You can even use it over again for other trips by adding or removing items. This way you ultimately create the perfect list each time for a worry-free holiday.
Save space
It’s always a good idea to spread out all items over different suitcases when travelling with the family. Seeing as kids’ clothing is generally smaller in size, make use of it! Other tips to save space: roll up your clothes and put your socks inside your shoes for effective packing. Also consider alternative technologies that can make your life a little easier. Take an eReader for example instead of 10 separate books. Furthermore, buy travel-size shampoo and cosmetics or, better yet, buy them when you’re there! Think ahead and think small to save space. After all, souvenirs deserve a little room on the way back as well!
Check restrictions
Always be sure to check any restrictions or airline limitations prior to departing. You are usually permitted to take up to 23 kilograms of luggage with you on most airlines. You don’t want to end up having your favourite pair of jeans confiscated at the airport (which you won’t need anyway for a holiday under the sun!)
Hand luggage
Still finding yourself trying to cram extra stuff into your suitcase? Remember you can always bring hand luggage along with you. The accepted dimensions are generally 55 x 35 x 25 cm. Check out the airline carrier website for actual information to avoid any unexpected surprises! Liquids in hand luggage can have a maximum of 100 millilitres each and should be placed in a sealable and transparent plastic bag. Forget about 200 millilitre bottles as these will be thrown out anyway!

Packing for your next holiday or city trip has never been as easy and stressless!
