The National Railway Museum has over 100 engines and trucks, including the fastest steam engine in the world and the real palatial royal carriages! Miniature models, photographs and artefacts complete the collection but children will be particularly attracted to the games area and the Learning Centre workshops where they can handle, experiment and learn about technology in the railway world. Jorvik Viking Centre
Considering the city’s Viking history, this place is essential to understand York. In the same place as where Viking remnants were found by archaeologists, the whole family can explore the streets, traditions and habitat of these men from the North. Thanks to new technology, parents and children can be face to face with a real Viking and can travel 1000 years back in time in one day!

York Castle Museum
York Castle Museum exhibits objects from daily life and allows one to discover the various eras of English history. The exhibition most appreciated by families is without doubt Kirkgate Street, where children as well as parents are transported to the Victorian era. The street with its sheriff’s car, its toyshop, its fire station or even its inhabitants who have their own period newspaper is total immersion into the past of the city. Flamingo Land
There are so many things to do and see and surprises awaiting you at Flamingo Land that the day will seem too short for the whole family. Harlow Carr Garden
Ideal environment for a pleasant family walk, the park is also a chance to discover a plant concentrate that grows in gardens in the north of England. Lightwater Valley
Lightwater Valley is an amusement park with over 40 fairground attractions, a shopping village and a bird of prey centre. 1st rotation for loading, 2nd and 3rd complete rotation and 4th rotation for unloading. Guess where you are?… On York’s big wheel of course!
