The Butantan Institute (Instituto Butantan)
Created in 1901, the original mission of this Institute was to research and develop snake bite vaccines. Today, it’s one of the most highly frequented tourist locations of São Paulo, and the opportunity for all the family to discover more than 2000 species of snakes, spiders and scorpions. Definitely a shuddering adventure! The Institute also opens the doors of its three museums: biology, history and microbiology. These places of learning with their interactive activities are particularly suited to children.

Carmo Planetarium (Planetário do Carmo)
With technological equipment unique in South America, the Carmo Planetarium hurls you out to the stars and the solar system. Young and old will feel like they're flying through the sky, approaching the sun or discovering the constellations of the zodiac one by one. If you want stars in your eyes, there can be no excuse not to witness the magnificent spectacle projected onto a dome 20 m in diameter!

Aeronautical Museum and Folk Art Museum (Museu da Aeronáutica e do Folclore)
Although they show very different subjects, these two museums are situated in the same building in Ibirapuera Park. The ground floor will delight the youngest visitors with its plane models and collections that trace the marvellous history of the conquest of the sky. The other floors are dedicated to Brazil and its traditions. More than 20,000 objects from all over the country offer a magnificent panorama of the cultural wealth of Brazil.

Zoos, aquariums, parks and gardens
São Paulo Zoo (Jardim zoologico)
Animal lovers, welcome to paradise! In fact, São Paulo has one of the ten biggest zoos in the world. With more than 3,000 animals representing almost 400 species, it’s a visit not to be missed for all the family. The animal habitats are specially recreated to make it appear that you are going on a journey to the very heart of the fauna of the five continents, from tropical birds to the big cats. Ibirapuera Park
Inaugurated in 1954, this park, just south of São Paulo is an immense green space dedicated to leisure. It’s the ideal spot for family walks and activities. Among the play areas, lakes, sports grounds and picnic areas, it’s the opportunity for a breath of fresh air before continuing visiting the city. Don’t forget to watch the many traditional spectacles, particularly music, that are on shown in the park.

The Zoology Museum (Museu of Zoologia)
One of the major missions of this museum is to get you to know the fauna of South and Central America better. The magnificent array of animals, from the most common to the unique makes it one of the favourite places for children. The collections are displayed in a way that also makes it a very fine educational visit.

Safari Zoo
Also named the Simba Safari Park, this zoo is an opportunity for a unique experience for all the family − a real safari just a few kilometres from the town centre of São Paulo! The Botanical Garden (Jardim Botanico)
A garden, an institute and a museum…enjoy the colour and perfumes of the flora of all five continents, especially South America which are given a place of honour! Especially not to be missed are the two greenhouses of the garden and the rich collections of the museum that show you everything there is to know about oils, timber and grains.

This theme park is a real paradise for thrill seekers.
