A trip on the canals
A family trip not to be missed! Starting from one of the five landing stages in the centre, this is a unique and charming way to discover the city and its treasures. Your boatman will guide you through the medieval city, before leaving the centre of Brugge to sail toward other quarters where houses with magnificent stone carvings will not fail to impress you. 

The Belfry
With a height of 83 meters, the Belfry towers proudly above the roofs of the city. Climbing its several floors is an opportunity for the whole family to make great discoveries. The children will particularly enjoy the amazing clockwork with its large set of 47 bells and its weight of 28 tons. The climb ends with a stupendous view of the city of Brugge and its canals.

Seafront
After a visit to Seafront the children will be real old seadogs! Located in Zeebrugge harbour, a sea resort close to the city of Brugge, this marine park allows you to discover the secrets of the oceans, understand the lives of the fishermen, swim among fish, and attack a pirate island… The high note of the exhibition is the opportunity for the whole family to board an old Russian submarine. A fascinating sea adventure!

Museums & Exhibitions

The Bruggemuseum
This is a good starting point for a visit to Brugge. The city’s history museum, the Bruggemuseum contains twelve historical areas. Particularly adapted to a family outing of discovery, the “Archaeological” area offers children and parents alike a trip to the Middle Ages and shows you the lives of the inhabitants and craftsmen: their clothing, their trades… Completely interactive – children can even touch the objects displayed! The Bruggemuseum is a very lively and entertaining way to discover history.

The Chocolate Museum
Let those with a sweet tooth raise their hands! Welcome to this museum devoted to the fascinating story of chocolate. After a pleasant trip in time with a 2500-year-old sweet, the family will be able to watch the different stages in the making of bars, truffles, and chocolate almonds. And for those who have resisted the temptation in front of the numerous window displays, the museum offers free tasting at the end of the visit!

The Diamond Museum
Cutting diamonds was invented in Brugge more than 500 years ago, and it remains a fascinating art form that is not very well known by the general public. Visiting this museum, children and parents will be given an opportunity to learn the secrets of the cutting, roughing and polishing of these most attractive and fascinating stones. The high point at the end of the visit is the “Treasure Room” where you will be able to admire some of the most beautiful diamonds in the world. A real marvel to behold!

Brugge Delphinarium (Boudewijn Seapark)
The largest indoor dolphinarium in Europe,is a magical place which the children won’t forget. It offers fantastic shows with dolphins and other sea mammals such as sea-lions. The huge pools, some with transparent panels, allow youngsters to get very close to these animals endowed with such “human” intelligence.
