Museums & Exhibitions

The Natural History Museum
Together with a fine display of the fauna and flora of the Mediterranean and the region of Nice, this museum presents exhibitions about all continents, animated presentations for children, and guided tours. In the superb exhibition called “Bleu Outremer” (Ultramarine Blue), young and old will discover beautiful seashells, sponges, corals, rare birds or such sea mammals as elephant seals!

The international Museum of Perfumes
Have you got a nose for it? A few miles from Nice, this museum will take you on a wonderful trip to the country of fragrances and refinement. You will learn all the secrets in the making of perfumes, from the picking and handling of the raw material to the perfume sold in shops. The museum also displays a fascinating collection of soaps, make-up and cosmetics, some of which are 4,000 years old! Full of life and atmosphere, many activities are offered. A magic universe!

The Archaeological Museum
A wonderful trip through time! After visiting the museum that shows you the daily lives of local populations from Antiquity to the Middle Ages, with statues, vases, crockery and many other artefacts, it will be time for the family to go for some fresh air toward the antique excavation site close to the museum. With its superb ruins, it will feed the imagination of youngsters.

Zoos, aquariums, parks and gardens

Discovering geology
Notice for budding geology enthusiasts! Nature House in the huge Parc de la Grande Corniche offers workshops for children and trips of discovery. Their aim: to bring them to understand geological phenomena including the formation of grottos. Interactive workshops and even scientific experiments are also on the menu of this trip to the “centre” of the earth!

Nice Phoenix Floral Park
This park is a real kaleidoscope of the treasures of nature. It has about twenty themed gardens superbly placed around a large lake and there are sound effects with natural sounds. A fantastic place for discoveries for young and old who will go from a Zen Japanese garden to the magical world of orchids. A superb walk through the hothouse, one of the longest in the world – 22 meters – is really worth a visit. A true wonderland!

The Zoo of the Cap-Ferrat Park
At the tip of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula, this zoo is situated in a protected area. With more than 500 animals, children will be able to get close to many species, from the most common to the most exotic: big cats, crocodiles, bears, lions, zebras, otters, parrots… Note as well the presence of farm animals which children always love.

Nice Observatory
The second research centre in France, the Nice Observatory allows the whole family to dream while contemplating the stars. An unforgettable experience thanks to the exceptional visibility of the Mediterranean sky. This visit is also an opportunity to see the largest telescope lens in the world. It enlarges 2,500 times! With it you can come “face to face” with a bird perched 20 km away! Close by there is a forest park of 39 hectares with numerous rare and protected species, nature’s marvels!

The Theatre of Photography and Images
Men, monuments, ways of life, industry… Here are some of the areas you will find in this fascinating museum which houses a superb collection of photos of Nice and the region. Located in the Théâtre de l’Artistique, this museum has the charm and refinement of the Belle Epoque (Edwardian era). An entertaining way to explore local life.

The Promenade des Anglais
The inescapable symbol of Nice, the “Prom” –the name given to it by the locals – offers a fantastic view on the Baie des Anges (the Bay of Angels). Its reputation also comes from the magnificent palaces that line it, such as the famous Negresco Hotel, which is a listed as a national historic monument. A walk along the Promenade, also famous for its “blue chairs”, will be a source of great memories for the family. If you have roller skates (or blades), now is the time to go!
